NHS services are scrambling to accommodate a backlog of cases, the largest November for 999 on record and the increase in Omicron cases across the UK.
New data has revealed the wider impact of COVID-19, with waiting times reaching an all-time high in England. More than a third of people attending A&E in November waited more than four hours for treatment.
