NHS confederation leader Matthew Taylor says staff in the health service have described this summer as feeling like a “mid-winter crisis”, adding: “We are running on hot and you can’t do that forever.”
In parts of England, hospitals have been forced to issue a “black alert” over bed shortages in the summer.
Mr Taylor also spoke out on the issue of making jabs compulsory for all healthcare workers.
