Nikki Haley kicks off White House bid, dig at fogeys Biden, Trump: ‘Faded names of past’ | NY Post

Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley officially kicked off her presidential campaign on Wednesday, telling a packed South Carolina rally that it was time for America to move past the “faded names of the past” — a clear reference to Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

“We’re ready,” Haley said. “Ready to move past the stale ideas and faded names of the past. And we are more than ready for a new generation to lead us into the future.”

Haley, the Palmetto State’s former governor, addressed supporters in Charleston just one day after revealing she was throwing her hat into the ring to challenge the 76-year-old 45th president in the 2024 Republican primary for the right to take on President Biden, 80, who has yet to formally announce a re-election bid.

“We won’t win the fight for the 21st century if we keep trusting politicians from the 20th century,” the 51-year-old Haley told the crowd of several hundred supporters.
