The murder of George Floyd last year not only prompted worldwide protests, but also sparked calls for sweeping police reforms.

One city that has taken steps to change is Newark in the state of New Jersey.

Its police force was dogged by corruption in the past – but after swift intervention – was transformed.

In 2020, officers didn’t fire a single gunshot. Newark now wants to be a model for better community policing – but not all residents agree it’s working.
