We all know that Normani was part of Fifth Harmony before she went solo, but now she just revealed that she never had the chance to showcase her true self while part of the girl group. What’s up? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and Normani is opening up about what her life was like as a member of Fifth Harmony and how she’s found freedom in being a solo artist. As much as we all LOVED Normani in Fifth Harmony, she has been SLAYING the game as a solo artist!I mean, how incredible was her VMA’s performance! And how bout that time she werked it at Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion show?Ok great, now that we’re all on the same page about that, back to the story.Normani just spoke out to The Fader for its upcoming winter issue and addressed how she never felt like she was being true to herself while she was a member of Fifth Harmony. And this isn’t the first time Normani addressed the impact of her time with Fifth Harmony. When she was on the Zach Sang show in September she said that “Motivation” was one of the first times she experienced true creative freedom. She also noted in the Fader interview that she and some other members of the group felt they weren’t given the freedom to contribute to the creative process. And despite these struggles, Normani did acknowledge that things eventually worked out for them. Though she sort of shaded Camila Cabello for not sticking around with the group until the endBut when the reporter asked Normani to comment on whether or not the group knew the Camila was leaving Fifth Harmony, she said she’d rather not talk about it. Instead, she updated them on their friendships, revealing there aren’t any hard feelings towards Camila at this moment. And I’m glad to hear that. We love both Camila and Normani over here at Clevver so I’m just glad to see that they are on good terms. But Normani didn’t only talk about her 5H past. Now that she’s pursuing a solo career, she talked about what music means to her. Obviously Normani has a very packed schedule, including touring with Ariana Grande, working on a new album, partnering up with Rihanna as the first ambassador for Savage x Fenty, joining The Voice as a mentor, and about a million more things. But when it comes her debut album, she’s taking her time to make sure it’s perfect. And she’s said it’s coming in 2020, which is next month at this pointWe don’t have an exact date but we’re coming up on getting a release date any day now and I can’t wait! And fans are stanning this Fader interview and cover. We are also so glad that Normani is so comfortable and confident on the stage now as a solo artist. She recently opened up to our sister magazine Cosmopolitan about how she has struggled with shyness throughout her whole career.Which is crazy for me to think about now! Eventually, though, she didn’t want to hide anymore and honestly, thank goodness for that. She said quote, “I’m not sure what that turning point was, but I was like, Normani is enough. You can be onstage and perform and you can be enough.”Though she told Zach Sang that a different version of her comes out when she’s on stage. Something comes over her that makes her feel not shy anymore. It’s very different being on stage than in a social situation. But it’s been awesome to watch Normani on her journey to finding herself and her confidence. And we just can’t wait to hear it when it all comes full circle. But I want to know what you guys think. Were you surprised to hear that Normani didn’t feel like she could be her true self while in Fifth Harmony? And what do you think about everything else she said in the interview?Let me know down in the comments below.
