Phoenix endures 31 days of ‘next extreme level’ heat

The maximum temperature in Phoenix, Arizona is expected to fall under 110 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday (July 31) for the first time in a month, as the city finally receives some much needed rainfall. Temporary relief for the state says Tom Frieders, Warning Coordination Meteorologist at NWS Phoenix.

“The core of the heat is kind of shifted a little bit to the east and centered over Texas now as we’re more influenced by some monsoon thunderstorms both today and tomorrow,” Frieders explained.

He says the heat will make its way westward again. “And by this weekend, we’re talking about extreme temperatures for highs again from Arizona all the way to Texas, where more records could be broken.”
