Police are to investigate after it emerged that Plymouth gunman Jake Davison had his weapon taken away, only for it to be returned weeks later.

Jake Davison’s shotgun and firearms certificate were confiscated last December following an allegation of assault.

On Thursday evening the 22 year old killed five people, including his own mother, before turning the gun on himself.
