Principal James Marsh of Zela Elementary in West Virginia was unlocking the school’s dumpster Monday morning for the cafeteria staff when a colossal black bear head came poking out, staring him directly in the face.
“Things go in [a dumpster], but you just don’t expect anything that big to come out of it,” Marsh told WASZ 3.
CCTV footage captured the moment Marsh unlocked the dumpster causing the educator and forager to come face to face — both seeming to be emulating the same level of fear.
After the bear and the principal briefly lock eyes, Marsh takes off running one way, with the terrifying trash-loving black bear hopping out of the dumpster and bolting off in the opposite direction.
