The Tokyo Motor Show opened its doors yesterday and one of the biggest premieres there was the new BMW ALPINA B3 Sedan. Japan has always been an important market for ALPINA, so it comes as no surprise that the automaker picked the Japanese venue for this unveil.
The new premium mid-class ALPINA B3 high-performance sedan is based on the BMW 3 Series with M Sport Package. But, of course, with an ALPINA twist. The BMW ALPINA B3 sedan features a front apron with large air intakes, a sporty rear apron and small diffusor fins. Integrated in the diffuser is a sports exhaust system with quad pipes.
The ALPINA Blue metallic and ALPINA Green metallic paint finishes are standard, but there is also a wide variety of BMW and BMW Individual paint finishes available to choose from
The car sports ALPINA CLASSIC 20” forged wheels, a stainless steel exhaust system with twin tailpipes.
The cabin is adorned by the hand-stitched LAVALINA leather upholstery, the ALPINA leather steering wheel, the open-pore wood dashboard trim, embossed ALPINA emblems and the ALPINA lettering on the door sills.
The new BMW ALPINA B3 sedan is the most powerful of its kind in history. Under the hood it features the new S58 unit comprising a straight-six architecture and a 3.0-liter displacement. The six-cylinder powerplant is also equipped with TwinPower Turbo two-stage supercharging and is capable of delivering a peak output of 340 kW / 462 PS (456 hp).
The maximum torque of 700 Nm is available between 3,000 and 4,250 rpm, while the top speed reaches a staggering 303 km/h (no electronic limitation). The distance from standstill to 100 km/h is covered in an impressive time of 3.8 seconds. With the help of the dedicated Launch Control function, the new ALPINA B3 sedan is able to sprint from 0 to 200 km/h in just 13.4 seconds.
The recently unveiled ALPINA B3 makes use of an 8-speed 8HP76 sports automatic gearbox specially developed in cooperation with transmission specialist.
The new BMW ALPINA B3 sedan will be available to order starting with the first quarter of 2020, with deliveries scheduled to commence by mid next year.
