Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders would be open to taking another run at the presidency in 2024 if President Biden decides not to seek a second term, according to a report.
The Vermont independent’s intentions were revealed in a campaign memo one of his top political advisers sent to supporters on Wednesday that was obtained by the Washington Post.
“In the event of an open 2024 Democratic presidential primary, Sen. Sanders has not ruled out another run for president, so we advise that you answer any questions about 2024 with that in mind,” read the memo from Faiz Shakir, who served as Sanders’ campaign manager in 2020.
Shakir did not respond to a request for comment from the newspaper.
