Sarah Everard: Can trust in the police be restored?

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged people to ‘trust the police’.

But he acknowledged that there are problems in the way that crimes against women are handled — and said that the authorities should ‘come down hard’ on officers found guilty of misconduct.

Five police officers are now being investigated for allegedly sharing misogynistic messages on a WhatsApp group with Sarah Everard’s killer.
