This was the moment a paraglider soaring above northern Italy plunged from great heights into the iconic Lake Garda.
Helmet camera footage from September 29, 2020, shows the pilot taking off from the top of a nearby ridge as he maintains height above the valley with the lake below him.
He then starts to descend as he misguided the width of the lake and as he makes his way down into the middle of the water a rescue boat is seen approaching him.
He then lands in the water and is brought aboard the boat.
The filmer explained: “For paraglider pilots, water landings without quick help are often ending deadly.
“Luckily people on a boat watched the accident already before it happened and reacted quickly to help him.”
