Scottish Travellers: Families torn apart in experiment seek government apology

The Scottish traveller community is demanding an apology from the Scottish government over claims of historical mistreatment dating back to the 1940s.

The “Tinker Experiment” relocated families in inadequate housing and took children from homes when families ‘outgrew’ them.

The scheme was supported by the UK government and Scottish local authorities.

Sky’s Scotland correspondent, James Matthews, spoke to victims of the experiment who are still suffering the consequences.
