Selena Gomez may have reunited with an ex this week, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to jump back into a relationship.
What’s up? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and just because Selena Gomez is single, doesn’t mean she’s ready to mingle.
On Tuesday, she was spotted reuniting with her ex Samuel Krost in New York City. Sel and Samuel were romantically linked from November 2015 to early 2016.
So obviously, the internet was wondering if they may be re-visiting things, but Selena set the record straight.
She shut down any speculation of a reconciliation by posting to her Instagram story saying quote, “I’m not dating anyone. I’ve been single for two years. I’m on God’s timing not mine.”
Interesting… Two years?
So I guess she didn’t count being with Justin Bieber last year as actually getting back together.
But I feel like Selena is telling the truth because she’s been very open about her relationship status as of late.
She also did mention that she’s been single for two years recently on the Zach Sang show.
And fans are totally relating to Selena on Twitter.
One person tweeted saying quote, “Yo Selena Gomez has been single for TWO whole ass years… I don’t feel so bad now lmaoooo”
Another said quote, “She and I have so much in common! Although I’ve been single for a little longer @selenagomez”
And another shared this pic of himself and Selena and said quote, “Selena Gomez puts a stop to dating rumors. Says she’s “been single for two years”, and “I’m on God’s timing, not mine”. Ditto. God, are you listening?”
And in her two recent songs Lose You To Love Me and Look At Her Now, she makes it very clear she has put all of her past relationships behind her and is focused on herself now.
And at the end of the day, really only Selena, and maybe her friends, know who these songs are really about.
Even though it really seems like she’s referencing Justin at least a couple times.
But she did recently reveal to Zach Sang that she’s in a great place and ready for love when love is ready for her.
Sel continued on and said quote, “When you get older, you find people who are actually right for you, that are actually on the same wavelength.”
So it sounds like she’s really ready for a mature adult relationship and I just can’t wait to see who the lucky person is who gets to date our girl!
But she obviously hasn’t always been in the place she is now.
Selena did also open up about lessons she’s learned from past relationships, seemingly referencing her time with Justin Bieber, who we all know she started dating as a teenager.
She said quote, “You’re in a phase of life where you experience love for the first time and I think that can just be a little toxic. When you’re young, you have this codependency that you think is love, and then you have this addiction to the passion and the frustration with each other and you think, ‘Oh that’s love.’ I believed that for a long time.”
She talked about how the break up was tough in the beginning but got easier over time.
Selena said quote, “I’ve been having way too much fun being on my own. It sucked for the first year, I was like, ‘I just want to cuddle. I just want to watch something and be adored.’ But now it feels good, it feels awesome.”
But Selena certainly wasn’t alone, she knows how lucky she is to have some great friends.
And in another interview with Apple Music, Selena revealed how her BFF Taylor Swift has helped her heal heartbreaks in the past.
She said quote, “Taylor has been an amazing friend. For sure. She was frustrated when I was frustrated. She was sad when I was sad. But more than anything, my friends stood by my side. I think they visibly saw me in so much pain and they didn’t want it for me… They never stopped loving me.”
Selena also revealed what it was like playing her new music for Taylor. She said quote, “I played her the song, and I played it with her mom and dad and I showed her the video and her mom and Taylor started crying.”
