Shay Mitchell is officially a mom! She and her long time boyfriend Matte Babel shared the news of welcoming their first child, a baby girl, into the world over the weekend.
What’s up everyone, Happy Monday! It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and Shay Mitchell, who is already an actress, YouTuber, and entrepreneur can now add “mom” to that list!
On Sunday, Shay announced the arrival of her baby girl on her Instagram. She shared this sweet pic holding her daughter’s hand and wrote quote, “Never letting go…”
And her celeb friends were quick to comment some love on Shay’s pic.
Vanessa Hudgens wrote quote, “Omg babe. Congratulations ?????????”
Patrick Starr wrote quote, “Omg congratulations????”
And Shay’s Pretty Little Liar’s co-star Janel Parrish wrote quote, “Congrats beautiful mama!!!!!”
And we couldn’t agree more with all the sweet sentiments.
So far, Shay has yet to share any of the details about her daughter’s birth like the exact day/time she was born and we still don’t know her baby girl’s name.
But we are super excited for her, and we’re sure she’ll share all of that with us once they’ve had a chance to settle in with their new little one.
I mean Matte hasn’t even had a chance to share his own announcement, but he did comment a heart on Shay’s post.
This is Shay’s first child with Matte and she announced her pregnancy back in June as a huge surprise on IG. At the time she was already around 6 months pregnant.
She posted this pic and wrote quote, “Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lane at all times now?”
We were all so excited for the news especially because Shay had shared that her road to having a baby wasn’t necessarily an easy one.
Shay opened up about why she kept her pregnancy a secret for so long and it has a lot to do with a miscarriage she had back in 2018.
Last year she wrote on her Instagram story about the experience and said quote, “Although it was an amazing year, it didn’t come without some hardships. We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life. And sometimes it’s easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads so many people to criticize it for its lack of authenticity.”
And Shay got real and shared a photo of the ultrasound of the baby she lost.
But since she’s been public about this pregnancy, she’s documented pretty much every little detail of it on her YouTube channel in her series “Almost Ready.”
In the description of her first video in the series she wrote quote, “It’s exciting, nerve-racking, difficult and emotional all at the same time. Everyone waits for the right time to make the announcement and for me it wasn’t until I couldn’t hide it anymore and was tired of wearing oversized sweatshirts. We’re beyond excited and looking forward to starting a family. I’ve learned so much about myself and parenthood over the past 6 months, and feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface!”
Shay and Matte have both been honest about how nervous they were to have their baby girl.
In her series Shay said quote, “I’m terrified of giving birth. It’s just a lot.”
And in a livestream they did in August, they both joked around about how they aren’t ready.
As a part of her “Almost Ready” YouTube series, Shay uploaded a video to her channel called “Not Your Average Baby Shower.”
She also wrote in the description that quote, “I know, I know, I said I didn’t want a baby shower but I changed my mind, my friends can thank me later. It was fun to let loose and see my family before I’m on travel lockdown. Everything is finally coming together…but of course being my daughter, she’s keeping me on my toes and switching up my birth plans.”
She has taken us to birth classes, where Shay had to face the reality of what birth will be like.
And she’s taken us to intimate doctor’s appointments where they’ve talked about whether or not she will need a C-section.
