Sturgeon lays low as political opponents call for her to go before May election

The leader of the Scottish Conservatives say a vote of no-confidence in First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is possible next week.

Sky News understands that Holyrood’s harassment committee has decided she misled parliament over the Alex Salmond inquiry.

A spokesperson for the First Minister accused the committee of politically-motivated smears and rejected some of the findings which have emerged from the unpublished report.

A separate inquiry into whether Ms Sturgeon breached the ministerial code is being carried out by James Hamilton, a senior Irish lawyer.
