Suppliers are desperate for at least another 150,000 HGV drivers to meet demand and keep British shelves stocked.
BP and Esso have confirmed they have had to close some filling stations, but say only small numbers are affected.
Drivers are being urged to buy fuel as normal after the shortage of lorry drivers in the UK started hitting petrol stations.
