There's a hypothetical type of black hole called primordial that could be filling the universe. As in, thousands of them crammed together in clusters the size of the distance between our Sun and the nearest star!

This event led to the extinction of 98.7% of the population, leaving only about 1,280 individuals. The main cause was a significant climate shift called the middle Pleistocene transition, which brought longer and harsher glacial cycles. This change made it difficult for early humans to hunt, forcing them to adapt while some animals went extinct. Scientists are still studying the exact cause and timing of this bottleneck.

Scientists measured sunlight on the Chajnantor Plateau, where the Atacama Large Millimeter Array is located, and found it to be 2,177 watts per square meter. This level of sunlight is similar to what you'd experience if you were 79% of the way from Earth to the Sun. How can a spot on Earth be as sunny as Venus? It turns out the clouds in the Atacama Desert are to blame. Instead of blocking sunlight, these clouds can sometimes focus the Sun’s rays onto the surface, like a magnifying glass.

This means two broods, Brood XIII (which shows up every 17 years) and Brood XIX (every 13 years), will pop out at the same time. Usually, different broods come out at different times, but this year, both will appear together, something that last happened 221 years ago in 1803. This amazing synchronicity won’t happen again until 2245, and these broods are conveniently located right next to each other.
