The 2019 American Music Awards were filled with big wins and we are here breaking down all the biggest winners of the night! What’s up everyone, it’s Sinead Devries here on Clevver News and first off I want to say a big congratulations to all of the nominees from tonight’s AMAs. Whether they won or not, they’re all winners in my heart!
That means you, Ariana Grande. Some awards were given out even before the official show started. Like when BTS won the award for best group/duo of the year during the red carpet. They gave an acceptance speech via a pre-recorded message. But when the actual show started, there were plenty more awards to be given. Billie Eilish was one of the night’s early winners, taking the award for best alternative/rock artist.She later showed why she was the best alternative artist in the game right now during a rocking, fiery performance of “All The Good Girls Go to Hell”.And following that, Halsey came up to accept the award for best pop rock song for “Without Me”.And during her acceptance speech, she addressed her Grammys snub by highlighting the American Music Awards’ dedication to taking the vote from the people, not from a group of elite academy judges. Taylor later called Halsey’s speech “THE speech of the night”, as it covered issues that the music industry faces with a select few people choosing what is “good” or “bad”. Taylor had multiple moments of her own, of course. On top of winning the award for “artist of the decade”, Taylor also won “best pop rock album” and “artist of the year”. I mean, how could she win “artist of the decade” and NOT “artist of the year”. During her acceptance speech for best pop rock album, she said “I didn’t think I was going to win this, this album felt like a new beginning, I love my record label, and allowing me to make whatever music I want to make, I’m so excited to perform for you later. THank you to the fans, you’re everything to me!” It probably surprised nobody that Shawn and Camila won best collaboration for their song Senorita. They shared a lot of cute moments tonight too, performing their number one single together and giving us another ‘will they or won’t they’ make out moment. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, depending how you look at it, we did not get to see them kiss at the end. In one of the tightest races of the night, Billie Eilish took home the award for “best new artist”.She gave a very real, unfiltered speech during her acceptance as well, saying “thank the fans that’s the only reason im alive, my brother who is my best friend, my mom, I Don’t Know where my dad went” Like, op okay Billie! We’re here for you.Past Malone won the award for the best rap album and here is what he said.Okay Posty! Me too!
