Guys, it looks like Katy Perry and Taylor Swift might actually be friends again and I could cry tears of joy. This is the best day of my life!
What’s up y’all? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and if you’re as invested as I am in A-lister drama, you’ll know about the infamous years-long feud between two of my favorites Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.
It started back in 2014 when Taylor revealed that her song “Bad Blood” was inspired by her relationship with an artist who she was quote “never sure” was her friend.
She said the unnamed artist tried to “sabotage” her tour by hiring a bunch of dancers from under her.
And because us Swifties are hard cord detectives, it was easy to figure out she was talking about Katy Perry.
And since then I’ve been so torn up because these are my two queens, how am I supposed to pick sides?!
There was a lot of back and forth drama between the pop stars over the years, but last year Katy sent Taylor a note and a literal olive branch to end the fight.
Things seemed civil between Taylor and Katy since then, but over the last 24 hours the reconciliation has reached a new level.
And I know these things may not seem like a big deal to you, but as someone who has been deeply invested in this feud for the last 5 years, this is MONUMENTAL.
Ok so, yesterday Taylor shared this picture with her adorable new cat Benjamin Button on Twitter and guess who liked it?!
None other than Katy Perry.
And I get it, maybe Katy just likes cats, maybe it was just a coincidence — but then this happened and my world was shook.
Taylor Swift updated her Apple Music playlist and she add Katy’s new song, “Never Really Over.”
That may be subtle, but this is a sign that both of them are done with this feud. And we know that nothing Taylor does is just a coincidence, that girl lives for clues and hidden meanings.
And if that wasn’t enough, the song is 13th on the playlist, I REPEAT 13TH!!!
Which if you know anything about Taylor Swift you KNOW that’s important. Like her favorite number important.
Taylor also wrote about the playlist literally telling us that each song is significant. She said quote, “Everything that happens to us is just part of a story we’ll tell someday. These songs are the soundtrack to my story at the moment. I love this playlist for kitchen dance parties, long drives home, sun-soaked reflection, or aggressive bopping. All songs have been loved and appreciated by ME!”
And fans are actually screaming, myself included, on Twitter rejoicing over this potential reconciled friendship.
One person tweeted quote, “TAYLOR AND KATY SUPPORTING EACH OTHER I AM EMOTIONAL…THIS IS THE SWIFTCATS ERA”
And another said quote, “KATY LIKED TAYLORS TWEET AND NOW TAYLOR IS ADDING NRO TO HER APPLE MUSIC PLAYLIST. AS SOMEONE WHO HAS STANNED THEIR FRIENDSHIP SINCE 2008 THIS IS EVERYTHING MY 6 YEAR OLD AND 16 YEAR OLD SELF COULD EVER WANT AND MORE”
And then this Twitter user said what we are all thinking quote, “We need collaboration. ?”
Yaaas please Taylor and Katy give us the collab we deserve.
And either way I am just so overwhelmed with joy that these two have finally moved on from the past drama. I can die happy now.
This is a new era!
