The life of William and Ellen Craft recognised after their escape from US for freedom

A couple who fled a life of slavery in America and settled in the UK to raise their family have been celebrated with an English Heritage blue plaque in their London historic home of 19 years.

Ellen and William Craft escaped to Liverpool and settled in the capital for nearly two decades speaking all over England, until after the Civil-War when America started the emancipation of slaves, they returned and began a school.
