Olympic bronze medallist John Carlos demonstrated on the podium at the 1968 Summer Olympics and reflects on the recent rules applied to athletes at the Tokyo games.
While the International Olympic Committee rolled-back its restrictions on political, religious or racial demonstrations, no protests are allowed on the podium.
It’s led British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith to argue that taking a stand against racism is a fundamental right.
