Athletes marched in a near empty stadium at the opening ceremony for the Tokyo Olympic games while audiences clapped through an app on their phones.
The games have had set backs with COVID test kit shortages and rising cases in the Olympic training grounds.
However, the representation of one’s country and the spectacular was a beacon of hope for the delayed games.
