He’s gay but don’t call him an icon. Troye Sivan had his time to shine during Vogue’s 73 Questions and he had a lot to say about his sexuality.
What’s up guys its Emile Ennis Jr here with Clevver News and I just wanted to take a minute to talk about Troye Sivan and everything he is doing for the gay community.
During his interview with Vogue, Troye said that he feels uncomfortable being called a gay icon.
He’s said in previous interviews, like one with Billboard, that he believes the title should go to people with a more diverse perspective, like Hayley Kiyoko or Brockhampton.
But Troye, there’s room for you as well.
Like his good friend Ariana Grande says, “There’s so much room at the top”
Or like his other friend Taylor, “we’ve all got crowns”!
Look, I’m not trying to go against his wishes. If he doesn’t want to be a gay icon, that’s his decision.
BUT I’m just saying that he has a pretty strong case!
I mean, he’s starred in an important movie about Conversion therapy
And his mom even helped to repeal the Australian gay panic law, which reduced the sentence of somebody who killed an LGBT person.
Hmm okay maybe his mom deserves gay icon status too.
Well I still think it’s important to respect his wishes, but I really just had to plead my case here. What do you guys think? What makes somebody a gay icon? Does Troye qualify for your standards? Let me know in the comments below.
