Tulsi Gabbard, 41 years old, ex congresswomen also Presidential candidate of 2020, announced today that she has taken a decision to leave Democratic party.
Tulsi Gabbard is an American politician, US Army Reserve officer, who served as the United States Representative representing Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2021. Gabbard was the first Hindu who became a member of Congress, as well as the first Samoan-American member of Congress who voted.
“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that’s under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers”
she mentioned today while quitting Democratic party.
Gabbard’s decision to quit is the result of years of dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party and its policies.
Tulsi Gabbard made the news on the inaugural edition of her new podcast, “The Tulsi Gabbard Show.”
Gabbard, who became the first American Samoan and practising Hindu in Congress after being elected in 2012, also slammed Democrats’ “open border” policy and anti-police rhetoric.
The former congresswoman from Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district has long been a distinct and oftentimes challenging voice in the Democratic Party.
As a Democratic presidential candidate in the congested 2020 race, she positioned herself as an Iraq War veteran with a strongly anti-interventionist foreign policy. On the campaign trail, she blamed US action in Latin America for causing the rise in migration across the southern US border, and she co-sponsored several bills targeted at keeping migrant families together at the border.
