Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2019 CANCELLED!!!

A Victoria Secret model just let some HUGE news slip that the annual VS Fashion Show might actually be cancelled this year. If this is true, it would be a really big deal for inclusivity.

What’s up guys? It’s Sussan Morad here with Clevver News and Victoria Secret model Shanina Shaik just revealed that the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show runway extravaganza might not happen this year.

Shanina has been in the brand’s 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2018 fashion shows.

And she just told The Daily Telegraph that quote, “Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year. It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an angel. But I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world.”

So while that’s just one person’s statement and I’m not sure if she was even supposed to say anything, if the VS fashion show was actually cancelled that would be HUGE news.

Many groups have been advocating for years that the show be cancelled due to its lack of diversity.

Shanina didn’t say why the show is reportedly cancelled, but this possible cancellation comes after The New York Times reported in May that the show would no longer be broadcast on network television due to declining viewership.

There were some rumors it may end up on a streaming platform, but it looks like the lowering ratings may have actually ended up getting the show cancelled.

And all of this is likely in part due to Victoria Secret’s chief marketing officer, Ed Razek, sparking controversy for his comments about transgender and plus size models in an interview with Vogue.

When asked if he would ever have a more inclusive show he said quote, “No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us. And they carp at us because we’re the leader.”

Ummm, yea, I think I can see why the ratings were lowering.

It’s 2019, brands that are transphobic and not inclusive of body diversity are a thing of the past.

And while Ed ended up apologizing for that statement, the show has certainly taken a hit, so much so, that it may not even happen.

And Twitter users are sounding off about the potential cancellation rumors.

One person wrote quote, “It’s the mood you’re in when #VictoriaSecret CANCELLED it’s fashion show!”

And another said quote, “Shanina Shaik just confirmed that this is true in an interview in The Daily Telegraph. No VSFS this year for VS.”

The Victoria Secret brand reps haven’t commented yet on this news leak, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

But for now, I want to hear from you guys.

Would you be happy to see the VS fashion show be cancelled? Or do you think it should remain on air?

Sound off in the comments below.
