Violence against women needs 'prioritising'

A report from the police watchdog has said that preventing violence against women and girls should be given the same priority as counter terrorism.

Official statistics show that there are 1.6 million female victims of domestic abuse in England and Wales, but three quarters of cases are closed early without charges ever being brought.
