WATCH: Cops arrest legally blind Florida man after mistaking folded cane for gun | New York Post

A pair of Florida sheriff’s deputies are being investigated after video emerged of them arresting a legally blind man who was walking with a folded cane in his back pocket – thinking it might be a firearm.

James Hodges, 61, was detained by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Oct. 31 as he walked on a sidewalk on his way home from the courthouse, First Coast News reported.

“Hi there. What’s this in your back pocket? I just saw you walking,” a female deputy says in the body cam footage.

“It’s a navigational aid. What’s the problem? You’re a tyrant?” Hodges responds.
