LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Opening arguments are expected to begin in the death penalty trial for Florida school gunman Nikolas Cruz, who pleaded guilty last October to 17 counts of murder and 17 counts of attempted murder in the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Cruz could face the death penalty or life in prison.
