The Rings of Neptune: NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has captured the clearest view of Neptune's rings in more than 30 years, revealing the ice giant in a whole new light.
The Great Dark Spot: This photograph of Neptune was reconstructed from two images taken by NASA Voyager 2. At the north top is the Great Dark Spot.
A unique view: These pictures of Neptune were obtained by NASA Voyager 2 on April 26,1989. The picture on the top was taken five hours after that at bottom, during which time the planet rotated 100 degrees.
Neptune atmosphere: In this false color image of Neptune, objects that are deep in the atmosphere are blue, while those at higher altitudes are white. The image was taken by Voyager 2 wide-angle camera through an orange filter and two different methane filters.
The Blue Marvel: NASA’s Voyager 2 captured this image of Neptune in the summer of 1989 as it became the first spacecraft to fly by the planet. Neptune's blue color comes from methane in its atmosphere, which absorbs red wavelengths of light.
Moons of Neptune: NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has captured seven of Neptune’s 14 known moons: Galatea, Naiad, Thalassa, Despina, Proteus, Larissa, and Triton. The planet's large and unusual moon, Triton, dominates this Webb portrait as a very bright point of light.
