Symbiotic star: NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has captured Mira HM Sge, a symbiotic star located 3,400 light-years away in the constellation Sagitta. The star system consists of a red giant and a white dwarf companion.
Crab Nebula: In celebration of the 29th anniversary of the launch of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers used Hubble to capture this festive, colorful look at the tentacled Southern Crab Nebula.
Cosmic dumbell: In celebration of the 34th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers took a snapshot of the Little Dumbbell Nebula, also known as Messier 76, or M76, located 3,400 light-years away in the northern circumpolar constellation Perseus.
Star cluster: This 100 million-year-old globular cluster is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way and a birthplace for billions of stars. The cluster is approximately 160,000 light-years away in the constellation Dorado.
Galaxy AM 1054-325: The galaxy has been distorted into an S-shape from a normal pancake-like spiral shape by the gravitational pull of a neighboring galaxy, seen in this Hubble image. A consequence of this is that newborn clusters of stars form along a stretched-out tidal tail for thousands of light-years, resembling a string of pearls.
MCG-03-34-064: A Hubble Space Telescope visible-light image of the galaxy MCG-03-34-064 reveals three distinct bright spots embedded in a white ellipse at the galaxy's center.
