Surprisingly, some species have evolved specialised biological features enabling them to survive without their heads.

Female Praying Mantises: These creatures often eats their mates’ head during mating, yet headless males can still perform mating for hours.

Toads: Toads can hop around after decapitation but die soon from starvation.

Wasp: nerve clusters and a vital ventral nerve cord in wasp’s body enable them to survive without heads.

Cockroaches: This insect is the best known survivor even able to live without its head for weeks. Cockroaches are able to breath air through tiny opening on their thorax and abdomen, hence can survive without head.

Axolotls: Axolotls have a remarkable ability to regenerate lost body parts, including limbs, tails, hearts, and significant portions of their brains.

Rattle Snakes: Its head can still bite even after decapitation.
