There are some states that are known for their high diversity of snake populations.
Kerala and Karnataka boast significant snake populations. Karnataka’s Agumbe is known for its high cobra population, also termed as the 'Cobra Capital of India'.
Uttarakhand has more than 30 snake species , showcasing the state's rich reptilian diversity.
Nagaland and Meghalaya are biodiversity hotspots, with Nagaland harbouring 65 snake species and Meghalaya exhibiting ongoing discoveries of new venomous serpents.
In central India, MP, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand host a varied range of snakes.
Cobras and vipers are very common in the Western and Eastern Ghats in jungles, swamps, and rainforests.
