Why the Black-Footed Cat Is Nature’s Top Killer
12 May, 2025

Weighing just 1–2 kg, the black-footed cat may look cute, but it has the highest hunting success rate of all cats.
Hunting mostly at night, it kills over 10 prey per night, more than triple its own body weight weekly.
This tiny feline has a 60% success rate in hunts, compared to lions at 20–25%. Almost nothing escapes it.
Using silent stalking and sudden bursts of speed, the black-footed cat hunts rodents and birds with deadly precision and efficiency.
Smaller than a housecat, it’s still nature’s top predator by kill rate; quiet, fast, and incredibly efficient.
