Pop star Sabrina Carpenter is calling out the White House after they used her viral hit Juno in a 21-second video showing ICE agents detaining people. The clip, posted on the White House’s X account, even included Carpenter’s own lyrics: “Have you ever tried this one” and “bye bye.” Naturally, Carpenter wasn’t having it, tweeting that the video was “evil and disgusting” and demanding her music not be used to push what she called an “inhumane agenda.” Fans instantly took her side, flooding social media with comments like “SUE THEM QUEEN” and urging her to take legal action. Some pointed out, though, that her label Island Records owns the masters, which could complicate a lawsuit.
She’s far from the only artist clashing with politics. Kenny Loggins and Olivia Rodrigo, among others, have also slammed political accounts for using their songs without permission. The White House hasn’t backed down—they even referenced lyrics from Carpenter’s 2025 track Manchild while defending ICE actions. Whether Carpenter or her label will pursue legal action is still unclear, but there’s precedent: Isaac Hayes once won a court order to stop a campaign from using his song.
