Wild footage shows Florida police ending 15-year-old’s wild joyride with PIT maneuver

Florida police used a so-called PIT maneuver and slammed into a stolen SUV operated by a 15-year-old boy to put an end to the teen’s wild joyride on Tampa’s freeways.

Harrowing aerial footage of the high-speed case shows police repeatedly attempting to box in a red Toyota RAV4 on Sunday as the stolen vehicle, occupied by a 15- and 14-year-old, evaded their efforts by driving off the roads.

The video then cuts to another attempt to stop the teens in the middle of a highway overpass on the Selmon Expressway, with one police cruiser opting to swipe the car with a PIT maneuver, which turns the Toyota around.

“He PIT him. He PIT him. If we can help him, he just PIT him,” the pilot can be heard directing the other cruisers.

Despite sliding several feet on the road, the teens are able to regain control of the vehicle and attempt to flee, but the officer hits them with another PIT maneuver, halting their escape.

The stolen car is then successfully boxed in by two other police cars.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the duo was taken down in coordination with the Florida Highway Patrol, who were alerted to the case following reports of a stolen vehicle from Riverview spotted on I-75 at around 4:10 p.m., Fox News reports.
