A woman has shared a heartwarming video on TikTok after rescuing an abandoned blind kitten and nursing her back to health.
Vanessa Ciranni, 30, from Italy who now lives in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, regularly rescues stray and abandoned animals alongside her full-time job as a regional project analyst.
On February 21 at around 9 pm, Ciranni heard something that sounded like crying outside her front door and discovered a tiny cat had been left on her doorstep.
Footage shows the kittens journey from being left in a box on the filmer’s doorstep to happily playing around Ciranni’s home.
“At first I thought she might have feline infectious enteritis (FIE), which is fatal,” Cirnnai said.
“Most of the vets were already closed and so I rushed to the animal market in Sharjah as the vets there were open until 10 pm.
“The cat wasn’t moving and was crying non-stop and it broke my heart to see her like this.
“Her voice was also strange which I think was due to dehydration.”
The kitten tested negative for FIE but it was confirmed that the feline had lost its eyesight.
Ciranni added: “This is why she was crying and also why she was super dehydrated and malnourished.
“The vets gave her food and vitamins and the following week she had blood tests and the vets discovered she was anaemic.”
After taking the kitten home Ciranni decided to name it Amal, meaning hope in Arabic.
The pet owner said: “She has also gained weight and is getting used to her new home with me and my husband and is learning how to move around without being able to see.
“She is super friendly and wants to cuddle all the time and while she can walk, she doesn’t have 100 percent control of her back legs.”
Vanessa is currently caring for three other abandoned cats alongside Hope.
She added: “Abandoning a pet is a death sentence.
“Pets are not used to surviving outside and cats are also very territorial animals.
“They are likely to be attacked by other cats and won’t be able to find water or food.”
