2027 Jaguar Type 01 – interior Exterior and Drive (Insane Coupe)

2028 Jaguar Type 01: A New Electric Era for Jaguar

Overview
Jaguar is entering a new chapter with the Type 01, a large four-door electric sedan designed to compete in the six-figure luxury segment. It features a long hood, a steeply raked windshield, and no rear window, instead relying on a camera feed displayed on the dashboard. Three electric motors combine for up to 1,015 horsepower with all-wheel drive, and range is expected to reach up to 400 miles per charge. Once on sale, it will compete against the BMW i7, Lucid Air Grand Touring, and future electric offerings from Mercedes-Benz. Jaguar’s sister brand, Land Rover, is also expanding its EV lineup, including electric versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, along with an upcoming Range Rover GT model.

What’s New for 2028
The Type 01 is an entirely new vehicle built on a dedicated EV platform, sharing nothing with Jaguar’s discontinued I-Pace SUV.

Pricing
The 2028 Jaguar Type 01 is expected to start around $130,000.

Motor and Performance
Three electric motors produce a combined 1,015 horsepower with standard all-wheel drive, promising strong acceleration for the car’s size and weight. Standard equipment includes an air-spring suspension with adaptive dampers and six-degree rear-wheel steering to reduce the turning radius. Formal testing has not yet been conducted.

Acceleration
Jaguar estimates a 3.1-second 0-60 mph time, which would put the Type 01 in the same performance class as the 1,050-hp Lucid Air Grand Touring, though it has not yet been independently tested.

Range and Charging
The Type 01 uses a 118-kWh battery pack with an estimated range of up to 400 miles, dropping to around 320 miles during sustained 75-mph highway driving. Jaguar says the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 22 minutes using a 350-kW DC fast charger.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The cabin departs from traditional luxury styling, favoring a minimalist design with brushed faux-brass accents and few physical controls, along with a full-length center console dividing the cabin into four distinct seating zones. Despite its large exterior dimensions, interior space is tighter than expected, particularly in the rear, where a narrow door opening makes entry awkward for larger passengers. Trunk space measures 15.9 cubic feet, smaller than anticipated, though the rear seats fold to expand cargo capacity.

Infotainment
A 24.0-inch display handles gauges and infotainment in front of the driver, paired with a smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen for climate and vehicle functions, along with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 38-speaker Meridian sound system is standard, including a 13-speaker soundbar spanning the dashboard and 25 additional speakers integrated into the headliner.
