2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid Is a New Kind of SUV That Starts Around $37K
Nissan finally brings its e-Power series-hybrid powertrain to America and says it expects up to 38 mpg combined.

The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is ready to introduce the brand’s e-Power series-hybrid powertrain to audiences in the United States. Earlier this year, Nissan gave us our first look at the new Rogue Hybrid, but now the automaker is sharing specific details about the compact SUV’s powertrain, fuel economy, interior space, and pricing.
While Nissan has sold its e-Power hybrid system in other markets, the newest generation of this powertrain is about to make its U.S. debut. That starts this fall with the Rogue Hybrid’s SR trim level, which will be equipped with the $4000 SR Technology package, giving it a starting price of $43,065. The lineup will expand to include additional models sometime early next year (more details on those later).
Nissan’s e-Power system uses only the electric motors to power the wheels, while the gas-fed turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine’s only purpose is to charge the battery. When the battery has enough charge, the engine completely shuts off. With an electric motor on each axle, the Rogue Hybrid has all-wheel drive and a combined 225 horsepower. Nissan released preliminary fuel-economy estimates of 40 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 38 mpg combined.
For this generation, Nissan says the e-Power system was specifically tuned for the North American market. The Rogue Hybrid debuts other new technology, like two different brake-focused features. Nissan’s e-Pedal regenerative braking system enables one-pedal driving, a feature that’s common on traditional EVs. Smooth Stop is another new feature; it automatically regulates the brake pressure and helps reduce head-jerk motions.
Inside, the Rogue Hybrid introduces a new dashboard layout as well as a fresh batch of materials. While the entry-level trim features a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the SR models with the Technology package and the top-of-the-line Platinum have a 14.3-inch unit with a Google-based OS, which includes Google Maps, Gemini AI, and the Play Store. The Platinum also features an exclusive 10-speaker Bose sound system. All Rogue Hybrids adopt Nissan’s new 15-watt Qi2 magnetic wireless charger; the Platinum treats passengers to two wireless charging pads.
The new Rogue Hybrid also introduces an updated ProPilot Assist, which includes a new front radar sensor, a new front camera with a wider field of view, and updated software. Nissan says ProPilot has been improved to better stay centered in its lane, and it can better handle curves at higher speeds too. The other new driver-assist features include the ability to automatically change lanes, and Hands-off Traffic Jam Support allows drivers to temporarily take their hands off the steering wheel in low-speed traffic on divided highways when ProPilot Assist is active.
This new Rogue Hybrid’s appearance is defined by sharply creased sheetmetal, an intricate grille with illuminated elements around the headlights, and an available full-width taillight. New family-friendly features include rear doors that open to almost 90 degrees for easier ingress and egress. Also, with five LATCH anchors in the back seat, families with children can place a car seat in the center position, allowing three seats to fit, along with providing more flexibility for where the car seats go. Nissan also claims the Rogue Hybrid’s 40.9 inches of front-seat headroom is more than any other hybrid in its class. When it comes to cargo space, there are 31 cubic feet with the second-row seats up. Fold them down, and you’ll unlock 66 cubes. Nissan says the Rogue Hybrid can tow up to 1500 pounds.
When the 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid starts reaching dealerships this fall, it’ll compete with other hybrid compact SUVs such as the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Hyundai Tucson. At first, the Rogue will only be offered in SR guise with the Technology package. Eventually, the lineup will grow to include the entry-level SV trim starting at $37,065; an SV Premium package will add $3100 to that price. The regular SR will start at $39,065, and the Platinum will start at $45,065.
