Authorities in West Chester, Pennsylvania have stepped up a manhunt for a convicted murder who escaped prison after scaling a wall.
Danelo Cavalcante, who is originally from Brazil, escaped the Chester County Prison on Thursday (August 31). A number of reported sightings reportedly place the fugitive in a heavily-wooded rural area about 2 miles (3.2 km) from the prison.
Cavalcante was convicted for murdering his former girlfriend. He was sentenced to life in prison. Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bevins warned the fugitive is considered dangerous.
Authorities have advised residents to be aware of empty properties where Cavalcante could be hiding, and to contact police for any searches of empty homes.
