The 12-year-old Israeli girl whose “Harry Potter”-inspired photo went viral after she was kidnapped by Hamas has been found dead alongside her grandmother in Gaza.
Noya Dan and her grandmother, Carmela Dan, were found dead somewhere in Gaza by the Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday, according to Carmela’s niece Abbey Onn.
“There was an operation by the Israeli army some days ago at this point to retrieve bodies, and we believe that it took them time to run what we know to be three DNA tests and to identify that it was both of them,” Onn told NBC News’ Lester Holt.

A US destroyer in the Red Sea shot down three missiles launched by Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen, possibly targeting Israel, the Pentagon said.
Spokesman Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters: "The crew of the guided missile destroyer USS Carney, operating in the northern Red Sea, earlier today shot down three land attack cruise missiles and several drones that were launched by Houthi forces in Yemen."

A Maryland judge was shot dead at his home Thursday night and police have not announced any arrests in the shocking crime.
Washington County Circuit Judge Andrew Wilkinson, 52, was found in the driveway of his Hagerstown home around 8 p.m., according to local reports and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Wilkinson, who suffered gunshot wounds, was taken to Meritus Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
