When we look back at the 2010s, we’ll remember some of the things that made this decade so distinctive. For better or for worse. One thing we will remember is the music that shaped the decade. And no matter who your favorite or least favorite artists of the decade were, you have to admire those who shaped the culture over the past 10 years. What’s up guys it’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and Billboard will be honoring one artist in particular as THE artist of the decade. Billboard, who is known for making the definitive charts of popular music, have released their “Top Artists of the 2010’s” chart, which takes into account album sales, radio plays, streams, and a bunch of other factors to determine the most popular artists of the past 10 years. But that might have been a mistake on Billboard’s part. The charts, which are all dated for December 31, 2019, have started to disappear one by one. Leading people to think that the charts were published accidentally, much earlier than they were supposed to be.But luckily, we got all the screenshots we needed before the lists were taken down for the time being.

I knew something was fishy about the charts right away. When you go on the Billboard website, you can see where each individual artist places in all of their 2010s charts, but you can’t see the full chart itselfSo for example, you can see that Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” scored the 68th spot for Hot 100 Songs of the 2010s, but there’s nowhere to see the whole Hot 100 Songs of the 2010’s list.So we had to act fast and to find all of the top artists that Billboard leaked. And Drake came out on top of the most high profile list of all – the Top Artists of the 2010s.Which came as a pleasant surprise to his large fanbase.
Besides taking the number 1 spot for top artist of the decade, Drake’s “Views” also got the number 9 spot for Top 200 albums of the 2010s. 5 of his albums actually placed on this chart. Besides “Views”, he got 20th for “Scorpion”, 45 for “Take Care”, 48 for “More Life”, and 70 for “If You’re Reading this it’s too Late”.

“God’s Plan” also came in 39th for Digital sales and 10th for R&B/Hip Hop songs. And “One Dance” did even better, coming in 7th on that chart.I guess having two songs on the R&B/Hip Hop songs list helped out, because Drake was also named the number 1 R&B/Hip Hop artist of the 2010s. So, since these charts definitely WEREN’T supposed to drop today, we’re not sure how Billboard plans to announce Drake’s achievement. I can only imagine that he will be doing a special performance at the Billboard Music Awards in April of next year.Just like Taylor will be doing to celebrate HER Artist of the decade win for the American Music Awards.Actually, Taylor came in second place for Billboard’s Artist of the Decade as well. And a lot of people are disappointed that she didn’t win the grand prize.

That’s because Billboard doesn’t count touring gross as a part of their calculations for top artists.Taylor’s Reputation tour as well as her 1989 tour broke records for the highest grossing tour by a female artist, and both tours made a LOT more money than Drake’s tours. In any case, Drake is an incredible artist! And so is Taylor.
And they have very different music for different audiences.Except they do have some similarities.Like remember when there were rumors that they were actually DATING?
Or that Apple music commercial?OR when Taylor name dropped Drake in the first 30 seconds of her new album “Lover”?So something tells me that there’s not going to be any Bad Blood between the two of them just because Drake won Billboard’s artist of the decade. Following Drake and Taylor on the list are Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, and Post Malone.

Lady Gaga comes in number 11, followed by Ariana Grande.Ariana and Nicki Minaj were the only female artists who premiered within the last 10 years to appear on the top 20 of the chart. 4 out of 5 of Ariana’s albums made the list for top albums of the 2010s, with Thank U Next coming in at number 68. Only her first album, My Everything, didn’t make the list. But a lot of people are wondering, where is Beyonce? She wasn’t even in the top 20 artists of the decade, which was really surprising. Especially considering Billboard came out with another list way back in 2015. The list read the top artists of the first 5 years of the decade, and Beyonce came in first place, beating out both Taylor and Drake. And this list came out before Lemonade did! It was right after she surprise dropped her self titled album and truly shook the whole world. Turns out that whole list from 2015 got turned around.
