The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has concluded there is a possible link between the Oxford vaccine and "extremely rare and unlikely to occur" blood clots.
Dr June Raine, chief executive of the MHRA, says 79 cases of blood clots have been reported, and that the side-effect poses a risk to one out of 250,000 people.
"Very rare effects" are only detected when a jab is used on a wide-range of people, that is why these side-effects are now cropping up.

The International Monetary Fund has predicted that the UK's economic growth could rise by as much as 5% over the next year, pointing to the successful vaccine rollout.
But while Britain will, according to the Fund's forecasts, have the strongest growth in the group of seven industrialised economies next year, the depth of the recession in 2020 means it will be the second last of them to regain its pre-COVID level of gross domestic product.

Boris Johnson says ministers are being 'prudent' with no decision made yet on the need for vaccine passports from June.
The Prime Minister said cheaper COVID tests might bypass the need for COVID passports.
International travel without a reasonable excuse is banned until at least 17 May.
However, with many countries across Europe suffering a third wave of COVID infections, the government has not yet been able to confirm whether foreign holidays will be allowed beyond that date - leaving many families uncertain over whether to book a summer break abroad.
