Lava rivers rapidly flowing down the slopes, deafening noise filling the air, clouds of volcanic gas and ash covering the sky. We all used to seeing volcano eruptions in movies, and they do look spectacular. But witnessing a volcano eruption in real life, especially when it’s the world’s biggest volcano, will unlikely be that amazing for you. In 2021, scientists were sure Mauna Loa would wake up soon. So far, the volcano’s seismicity keeps increasing and then going back to normal. But you never know when this giant will finally come back to life.
