Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organisation said that coronavirus “will not just disappear” but it was up to us to end it.
Dr Tedros said the world was now a “toxic mix of low vaccination and low testing” and that developed nations should fully fund equitable distribution of vaccines and treatments all over the world.
He talked about the emergence of the Omicron variant, saying “this is what the virus will do, if we allow it to continue to spread”.
