Voyah Taishan X8: 20,000 Orders in 20 Hours in China
Overview
The Voyah Taishan X8, a full-size new-energy SUV measuring 5.2 meters long with up to 657 hp, received 20,000 presale orders within 20 hours of launching in China, including 15,000 orders in just the first 53 minutes. Priced from 302,900 yuan ($44,380), the five-seat SUV is positioned as Voyah’s next bestseller. Voyah, a premium brand owned by Dongfeng that also sells internationally, delivered 31,018 vehicles in Q1 2026, up 18.5% year-over-year, according to China EV DataTracker. Its current lineup includes the Free, Courage, and Taishan crossovers, the Passion sedan, and the Dream minivan. Since these presale orders are refundable, actual final sales figures are likely to be lower.
Pricing and Variants
Presales for the Taishan X8 began on April 22 with two powertrain options. The PHEV version ranges from 302,900 to 369,900 yuan ($44,380–$54,200), while the all-electric version costs between 349,900 and 389,900 yuan ($51,270–$57,130). For comparison, Voyah’s flagship six-seat Taishan PHEV starts at 379,900 yuan ($55,665).
Design and Interior
The Taishan X8 measures 5200mm long, 2025mm wide, and 1814mm tall, with a 3,090mm wheelbase. Exterior features include a large body-colored front grille, split headlights, semi-hidden door handles, and a single-unit taillight, along with Huawei’s latest 896-line LiDAR sensor. Inside, the five-seat cabin includes dual 15.6-inch center console screens, an LCD instrument cluster, a steering-column-mounted gear shifter, a built-in fridge, a ceiling-mounted rear screen, and heated, ventilated, massaging seats throughout.
Powertrain Options
The PHEV variant pairs a 1.5-liter engine (110 kW/148 hp) with dual-motor all-wheel drive. The entry-level PHEV offers 365 kW (489 hp) combined output with a 44.5 kWh battery for 245 km of electric range (CLTC), while a higher-output variant delivers 380 kW (510 hp) with a 65 kWh battery for 370 km of range. The all-electric version uses two motors with a combined 365 kW (489 hp), offered with 98 kWh or 120 kWh battery packs providing 603 to 727 km of range under CLTC testing.
International Plans
The Taishan X8 may be sold in overseas markets under the name Titan X8.
